Functions
  • Investigate, research on reasonable utilization of the biological resources and typical ecosystems with the purposes to partially meet the needs of human life in foods, consumer goods; planning for economic – social development and environmental protection; education and training of scientists in the field of ecology and biological resources.
Tasks
  • Investigate, estimate the biological resources in order to provide a basis for reasonable utilization of the species having scientific, economic and conservation values.
  • To undertake research on the structure and function of typical ecosystems in Vietnam for the monitoring and management of natural resources and their environment.
  • Research on environmental restoration and the designing and planning of sustainable development from an environmental perspective.
  • To train scientists in the field of ecology and biological resources.

ACTIVITIES

In 2012, the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, chaired the 01 subjects independent state, 02 subjects in the Highlands program III , 01 tasks of program-oriented basic research applications, 01 the subject of the protection of the environment , 02 independent threads Academy of Science and Technology Vietnam , 05 projects at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology the priority , task 03 international cooperation of the Academy of Science and Technology Vietnam, 16 threads NAFOSTED, 31 and 2 subjects grassroots mission. In addition, the Institute also hosted many state branch themes, international projects, the subject signed with the provinces, and the international cooperation programs.

Institute has implemented many surveys, resource surveys organisms in different regions of Vietnam, in order to assess the status and distribution of plants and animals ... Results of these studies is the scientific basis for the proposed measures to protect, recover and rational use of biological resources. The results can also be used for the proposed research established the Reserve and National Park in Vietnam, the proposal recognized world natural heritage, ...

In 2012, the research staff of the Institute has published several books and many articles have been published values at home and abroad:

- Number of articles published in the magazine of the SCI list: 16
- Number of articles published in the magazine of the SCI-Expanded list: 31
- Number of articles published in foreign journals in SCI, but the list of international codes ISSN or ISBN: 34
- Number of papers published in 12 national magazines and other publications published by the Institute HLKHCNVN: 36

In 2012, the Institute has also partnered with several research organizations (IUCN, UNDP, Birdlife International Organization, UNESCO, WWF, ICF, CIAT, WPA, DAAD, ....), the research institutes of many countries in the world (Germany, Russia, South Korea, UK, USA, Japan, Canada, Belgium, ...) through the topics of the project:

- Legato Project - collaboration with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, Halle (Vietnam - Germany).
- Project: "The survey collected specimens Vietnam" (Vietnam - South Korea).

In 2012, 18 IEBR hosted foreign guests, dispatched 29 officers to turn the foreign units of IEBR made several bilateral projects, has organized 03 Conference International School.

IEBR the basis postgraduate training. 2012, 150 graduate students and 45 graduate students and researchers who are studying at the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources. Quality training with reputable international partners. There are 3 officials Institute postdoctoral training, 17 officers attended graduate programs and one program staff attending high school overseas.

Progress in developing science and technology resources: in 2012 the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources continue to implement two projects to fix the renovation project to fix the toilet and A11 road rehabilitation project on biodiversity Me Linh Station .

ACHIEVEMENTS
  • The Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources is main organization to edit books “Fauna and flora in Vietnam and Red data book of Vietnam”. These books are awarded Ho Chi Minh Prize in 2010.
