On May 29th 2012, Prof. Chau Van Minh, president of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) received Ranjit Rae, India Ambassador to Vietnam.
The reception drew the participation of Prof. Duong Ngoc Hai, VAST vice president, leaders from the Department for International Cooperation, the Department of Application and Development of Technology, the Institute of Space Technology and the Vietnam National Satellite Center.
At the reception, Prof. Minh welcomed Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae for his first working visit to VAST. He expressed his hope to promote cooperation between VAST and Indian scientific study and training agencies.
The Indian Ambassador thanked VAST’s warm welcome. He said the 2012 is the year to mark the 40th founding anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic relations. One of concerned cooperative fields is science and technology.
VAST would like to build cooperative plans with India partners in powerful sectors such as pharmacy, information technology, space technology and especially human resource training.
The Indian Ambassador said that India would double the number of scholarships for Vietnamese candidates to study and work in India (from 75 scholarships to 150 scholarships). Many of them would be from VAST.
Prof. Chau Van Minh hoped that the working session would be foundation to strengthen cooperation between India and Vietnam in the field of science and technology in the future.
