On May 21, 2020, VAST had a meeting with the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province to recognize and evaluate the results of scientific and technological cooperation in the period of 2014-2020, and also agree on new cooperation contents for the next stage. Prof.Acad. Chau Van Minh - President of VAST, and Mr. Le Truong Luu - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of People’s Council of Thua Thien Hue Province co-chaired the meeting.
On May 22, 2020, the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Vietnam, and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology held a ceremony to hand over chemical supplies and production process of hand-washing gel to prevent COVID-19 for Laos Ministry of Science and Technology. Attending the ceremony, on the side of VAST, were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of VAST; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ninh Khac Ban, Head of International Cooperation Department; and scientists of VAST. On the side of the Embassy of Laos in Vietnam, there was Mr. Sengphet Houngboungnuang, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Vietnam, and the attachés working at the Embassy.
On June 12, 2020, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology held a press conference for journalists on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (21/6/1925 – 21/6/2020). This is a practical and meaningful activity in gratitude to the sentiments that journalists have given to VAST in particular and the Science and Technology field in general.
The Institute of Environmental Technology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) has researched and developed the results from the VAST-level projects on pilot production on silver nano application, especially the project on completing the technology of producing nano silver solution as materials used in agriculture, health and other fields of life, code: VAST.SXTN.03/16-17, led by Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Dung.

At present, the respiratory infection caused by the new strain of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading aggressively. In this situation, on March 2nd, 2020, VAST Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control held a meeting to deploy epidemic prevention and control at the academy. Immediately after its outbreak in Vietnam, Hanoi saw new cases of COVID-19, and VAST Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control requested immediate disinfectant spraying of the Central Building, A1 building and the Institute of Information Technology, on the night of March 8th, 2020.
