The Central Highlands has a remarkably important position in the economy, society and national security. So, it is necessary to conduct science and technology research to promote socio-economic development, contributing to national security for the Central Highlands.
The Central Highlands Programme 3 is a science and technology task, which continues from the Central Highlands Programme 1 and 2 assigned by the Prime Minister, to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), in coordination with the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and science agencies nationwide.
The Steering Committee of the Central Highlands Programme include seven members led by Prof. Chau Van Minh, VAST president. The Central Highlands Programme 3 started in 2011 with 19 natural science and technology tasks. Many delegations of scientists have conducted surveys in the Central Highlands.
To continue objectives of the Central Highlands Programme 3, on April 23rd, VAST president issued Decision No 476/QĐ-KHCNVN on approving individuals and organizations to carry out state level projects in the plan for 2012 under the Central Highlands Programme 3. In late April and early May, 2012, VAST held councils to appraise content and expenses for scientific projects under the Central Highlands Programme 3 which started at the beginning of 2012. Accordingly, state-level scientific projects of organizations and individuals in the 2012 plan under the programme, code KHCN-TN3/11-15, are appraised in both professional content and expense.
