On August 9th 2013, a ceremony was held at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) to present a certificate for the VNREDSat-1 satellite system operation to 15 young engineers from the academy. The certificate was granted by Astrium Company under the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS).
Ms. Brigitte Tedaldi, director of VNREDSat-1 project of EADS Astrium Company, presented the certificate to learners
The ceremony drew the participation of Prof. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of the Party Committee, president of VAST; Ms. Brigitte Tedaldi, director of VNREDSat-1 project; leaders and scientists from two agencies; and engineering staff who participated in the training course.
Earlier, to master the small satellite technology and operate the VNREDSat-1 system, from August 2011 to July 2013, VAST – the VNREDSat-1’s owner coordinated with Astrium Company to run a training course on operating VNREDSat-1 satellite system for young engineers from the academy.
The training course provided common theory about space technology, satellite technology, ground stations; deep theory about problems related to earth-observation satellite system; practice in designing several earth-observation satellites; on-the-job-training; training on operating the system, and analysing and overcoming problems in the practical system handed over to Vietnam.
The training course took place in both France and Vietnam. In France, from August 2011 to July 2012, the training course was for the group of the system operation; the course from August 2011 to December 2012 was for the group of satellite engineers. After finishing the part of the training course in France, learners continued their study until July 2013 in Vietnam.
