The 2015 International Technology and Equipment Market of Vietnam (Techmart 2015), organised from October 1-4 by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee and the Business Association of High Quality Vietnamese Products, opened on the evening of October 1, 2015 at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace at No. 91 Tran Hung Dao Street.
On October 6 - 7, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) organised a seminar to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of VAST, with a focus on introducing its outstanding achievements and research results over the past 40 years and most specifically from the last 5 years.
As part of activities on technological transferal, talks on technological development and workshops to mark the 40th year of the establishment of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), VAST organised an exhibition on science and technology at the hall A1 which started at 7:30a.m on October 7, 2015. The exhibition was a place for scientists to visit, share and leave comments on the research on technological development as well as to be informed about the technological developments achieved by by VAST over the past years.
The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) on September 17, 2015 held an official meeting to present an insignia to Daito Michio, economic counselor of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam as he reached the end of his tenure in Vietnam. Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, VAST President, together with representatives from VAST units such as the International Cooperation Department, the Personnel Department and the National Satellite Center, attended the event. Ms Daito Michio and Mr. Daito Michio’s successor in the new term, also participated in the meeting.
The application of geospatial technology in the prevention of natural disasters is a new direction being applied in many countries, bringing with it the potential of greater socio-economic efficiency. To promote the application of this technology, on September 1, 2015, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was held to promote the cooperation in "Application of geospatial technology in the prevention and mitigation of natural disasters” between three agencies, including the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), the Water Resources Department (WRD) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (MARD), and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
In realization of work for 2015 of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), as agreed by the VAST Party Executive Committee and leaders, on September 15, 2015, the Union organised a ceremony to receive the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit and honour “outstanding young scientists” for the first time.
