On December 10th 2012, a delegation from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) led by its director Charles F. Bolden Jr., paid a working visit to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
On December 28th 2012, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) held a ceremony to review its work in 2012 and implement plans for 2013. The event drew the participation of Nguyen Quan, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Science and Technology; representatives from the Government Office, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Party Central Committee’s Commission of Organization, the Party Central Committee’s Commission of Popularization and Education, the Party Central Committee’s Commission of Inspection, Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, and Nafosted Fund.
On May 7th, 2012, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), owner of the project on Vietnam’s first Natural Resources, Environment and Disaster monitoring Satellite-1 (VNREDSat-1), coordinated with the Astrium Company under the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) to organize an event to launch VNREDSat-1.
At 11 am on May 9th 2013, the VNREDSat-1 has successfully photographed the territory of Vietnam and instantly transferred images to ground receiving stations Vietnam, including Lung Cu in the northern mountainous of Ha Giang, Hanoi capital and the southern island of Phu Quoc.
On March 20th, 2013, the French inspection general delegation led by Bernard Fitoussi, Administration Inspection General, paid a working visit to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).
On February 6th 2013, Prime Minister issued Document 1169/ VPCP-QHQT to agree for the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) to launch the Vietnam Natural Resources, Environment and Disaster Monitoring Small Satellite (VNREDSat-1) to the orbit, assigning tasks to VAST to work with French partners to fully prepare technical works, ensuring the success of the satellite plans.
