During the working visit to Vietnam by the delegation from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), on the morning of September 20, 2017, the Department of Application and Development of Technology in collaboration with the Centre of Information - Documentation held a seminar on international cooperation between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) to exchange information and share experience.
On August 1st, the Vietnam National Space Centre under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology signed an agreement with the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High Technology Zone on cooperation to apply satellite technology science, GIS technology in the state management in the high technology zone, and expand application for Ho Chi Minh City.
The 10th Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) Asia-Pacific Symposium was held in Hanoi from 18th to 20th September, 2017, by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), Vi-etnam National Space Center (VNSC), Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The Sym-posium, attended by 210 participants, addressed the theme of “Accelerating the realization of the SDGs with Earth Observations: Lessons from the Asia-Oceania Region”, and focused its discus-sions on contributions to GEO’s Societal Benefit Areas (SBAs) and partnerships for GEOSS with the SDGs. The Symposium continued the work of establishing the Asia Oceania GEOSS (AO GEOSS) initiative as a fundamental piece of regional infrastructure and an overarching vision for other EO initiatives in the Asia Oceania region.
From September 18th-20th, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Space Center (VNSC) under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology coordinated with the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to organize the 10th seminar on global earth observation system for Asia-Pacific (GEOSS-AP 10) with the theme “Promoting awareness on sustainable development in earth observation: Lessons learned from the Asia-Oceania region.”
On July 7th, 2017, the Institute for Scientific Information under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) held a ceremony to open postgraduate training and present graduate degrees for new PhDs for the first phase of 2017.
On July 10th, 2017, the Signing Ceremony on the Media Cooperation Program in 2017 – 2020 between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and Nhan Dan Newspaper took place at the headquarters of Nhan Dan Newspaper.
