Goal and objectives of the project

Genetic diversity based on nucleotide sequence of mitochondrial D-loop and molecular marker assisst selection for improving egg production traits in Lien Minh chicken.

Main results

- Theoretical results:
+ The phylogentic tree of the Lien Minh chicken (together with other local breeds) and reference classification based on the mtD-loop nucleotide sequence.
+ Favorable genotypes TT (VIPR1/ TaqI) for mean number of eggs (during 20 weeks of laying time), two other beneficial genotypes ID (locus PRL24) and CT (locus PRL5) for mean egg weight recoding during 20 weeks of laying time. Beneficial genotype ID (locus PRL24) for mean of egg weight has been confirmed in following generation of Lien Minh chicken.
- Applied results:
The result of this study is expected to be transferred to the Center for Application of Science and Technology of Hai Phong to assist the selection of the Lien Minh breeding line.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

The results of genetic analysis provide information for the conservation and development of the Lien Minh chickens and total 66 D-loop sequences (Lien Minh, Dong Tao, Nhan and Chic Cuc chickens) were registered in the Genbank with following accession numbers KY172116-KY172121; MH425591- MH425608 contribute to the registration of the local specialty of the Lien Minh chicken.
