Goal and objectives of the project

- To clarify the formation and evolution of Day River mouth delta front;
- To evaluate and forecast the accumulation – erosion processes on Day River mouth;
- To propose the adequate solutions to inhale the stability on Day River mouth for
waterline transportation and flood discharging.

Main results

- Theoretical results:
+ Implement, updating the data sets of oceanography, meteology, sea floor sediment and high resolution seismic profiling up to 30 m of water depth;
+ Establish the sea bed sediment distribution map, scale 1:10.000;
+ Establish the geolo-geophysical cross-sections interpreted by sequence stratigraphy;
+ Establish the evolution of coastal line and Day River mouth delta front since 50 year BP to the present;
+ Establish the scenario for the development of Day River mouth delta front and coastal zone up to the year of 2070.
- Applied results:
+ The updated data sets of oceanography, geology and geophysics on study area;
+ The standard input parameter set for the stimulation model MIKE 3 applied for the study area;
+ Scientific fundaments for the policy planning, coastal zone management and economy development according to the sustainable approching.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

+ Identified the formation and evolution processes of Day River mouth delta front in the context of impact factor interplay, including natural impact factors (geomorphology, geometry, environment, climate, the river-ocean interactives, etc.) and the human impact factors (artifical dykes, aquacultures, mangrove planting, etc.).
+ Scenarios for the development of Day River mouth delta front and coastal zone up to the year of 2070 stimulated by the software package MIKE 3.
+ Proposal of initiative redirecting the river mouth in accordance with natural developing trend in order to improve the flood discharge and transportation efficiencies 2
